Prayagraj: A sizable audience joined the sadhus and seers as they made their way to the Maha Kumbh cantonment in a grand procession that commenced at 11 a.m. The procession began at the Shri Maujgiri Ashram and moved toward the Triveni Marg Akhara’s camp.

The event was a magnificent display of spiritual and cultural heritage, with prominent figures like Mahants, Mahamandaleshwars, Jagadgurus, and Naga sadhus leading the procession. They rode in regal splendor on chariots, carriages, and horses, accompanied by vibrant musical ensembles from Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.

The Naga sadhus led the way on horseback, while the Akhara’s Mahamandaleshwar rode in a silver howdah, adding to the grandeur of the occasion. The preparations for the event were overseen by President Mahant Premgiri Maharaj and Mahant Hari Giri, the international patron of Juna Akhara.

Last month, the sadhus and sages of the Shri Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara began their participation in the Maha Kumbh with a grand entry into Sangam city, which set the stage for the celebrations. The procession, led by Mahant Hari Giri, started at Ramapur, Andawa, and concluded at the Shri Maujgiri Panch Dashnam.

The parade included well-equipped horses, carts, and chariots, with saints riding in regal style as drums and other musical instruments played. Spectators lined the streets to welcome the saints, including those from around the world, who were part of the event.

The Maha Kumbh festival, held on the banks of the Sangam in Prayagraj, will formally begin on January 13, the first major bathing day on Makar Sankranti. Millions of pilgrims and devotees are expected to attend, underscoring the event’s profound spiritual significance and rich cultural legacy.
